Why is the audio coming out of my pioneer receiver?

Mine is a vsx-821, bought new, and HDMI audio started dropping out intermittently a while ago, and has continued to get worse. HDMI video remains solid, but the audio from HDMI sources goes in and out. As time goes on, it is more out and less in. It does not matter what HDMI input, source, or cables are used.

Try to reset unit to factory defaults first. If that won’t make any difference then yes, repair service will be required. This appears to be a problem with a number of Pioneer receivers.
