Digital will not work and you are using all digital connections. I suspect that the dialogue between me and AVRat made it a bit unclear. Because all of your sources are connected using digital connections (i.e. HDMI), your receiver will not play them over any Zone 2 connection (either speaker-level or line-level).

Is the sound working on my pioneer TV?
— As indicated earlier, the sound is working fine on multiple other TV’s on the same cable service and line). The sound now seems to be back to a ‘sound with intermittant ‘no-sound’ patches. Box to TV connection is HDMI; Box to receiver connection is Optical, Receiver to TV seems to be through the cable box via the optical cable.

What is the back of a pioneer receiver used for?
It’s been used primarily as an entertainment hub – it has 4 HDMI ports in the back that are being used for the cable tv, apple tv, xbox and occasionally for a laptop (I have an HDMI to thunderbolt cord). I also have a turntable plugged in the the analog RCA port.

I have just bought a new Pioneer VSX 534D A/V receiver and when setting up for 5.1 I’m getting no sound through the rear right speaker or subwoofer. All speakers work fine as I’ve tried them in the other ports during Test Tone and on my old receiver, could it be faulty terminals ?

This just happened to my Pioneer Elite VSX-52. Followed audioken tip except heated the whole entire board at about 4″ high with heat gun… Problem resolved. Hope I will get a few more years out of this unit (which I love).
