What kind of subwoofer does REL use?

Here at HCC we rather liked REL’s Serie S subwoofers, even if it has involved repeatedly telling sub-editors that there isn’t an ‘s’ on the end of Serie. When the company announced a Super High Output overhaul of the S/5 and S/3 models we had questions.

How many Watts Does a REL S3 subwoofer deliver?

For example, their S3 delivers only 400 watts and their T/9i’s deliver just 300 watts. When comparing them to subwoofers like JL, which deliver 750 watts to $1500 watts, maybe REL subwoofers are just too wimpy. I would try with a broad range of music, just to be sure.

What does REL stand for in speaker category?

The REL method of speaker or high level connectivity was a solution to connect to receivers back in the day that lacked pre outputs. The assumption is using the same signal the speaker gets exceptional integration is guaranteed. REL describes their product as providing bass extension and is not a subwoofer.

How big does A S / 3 Sho subwoofer get?

On an S/3 SHO, think of it as a sliding ratio design wherein the S/3 SHO begins as an ultra-fast 10” sealed box design and, as more power and deeper bass is demanded S/3 SHO gradually morphs into the power and output of a 15” design. Beyond our proprietary drivers, the performance of a REL is determined by our unique input filters and amplifiers.

Can a REL be used as a subwoofer?

Connecting a REL as a Dedicated Rear Subwoofer Step 3g. Connecting a REL as a Dedicated Center Channel Subwoofer Step 4 (If High Level Connection is unavailable). Connecting a REL Low Level to Active Speakers, a Television or Monoblock Amps

What kind of filter does REL s / 3 Sho use?

REL S/3 SHO uses a simple filter-type that is very fast—about 8 milliseconds in group delay– to cross out unwanted higher frequencies to our driver. This speed and our carefully sorted filters allow for seamless blending of RELs with the main speakers.

Can a subwoofer be connected to only one channel?

If your sub has only a single line-level input, connect only the preamp’s left- or right-channel output to the sub’s input — DO NOT plug a Y-adapter into the left and right outputs of your preamp, as this will effectively short the outputs.
