Where does the audio come from on a Yamaha AV receiver?

Audio signals input at the HDMI jack are not output from any speaker terminals but output from the connected video monitor. besides the HDMI connection (see page 16). So it is working as it should but not the way newer units do. I would suggest that you add a external HDMI switcher with audio extraction like this one
