What kind of amplifier is the Yamaha as-1100?

What kind of amplifier is the Yamaha as-1100?

[..]I was looking at both the AS-1100 and AS-2200 which press all my buttons. Modern retro old style big bruisers that feel bomb proof, lovely tactile feel and with VU meters and side panels. Nothing high tech or fancy, just old style two channel stereo integrated amplifiers.

Which is better Yamaha a-s1100 or Yamaha s-s2000?

Yamaha A-S1100 and the old A-S2000 are… H3 dominant. H2 at -100 dB but H3 at – 80 dB. Thanks for the link, it’s more the constructional quality (standard of components, assembly etc) I’m concerned about.

What kind of build quality does a Yamaha amplifier have?

Looking at pictures of the Yamaha amplifiers they seem to have some of that old time Japanese goodness with a tidy symmetrical layout and neat construction but I do not know enough to judge. Has any of our build quality and component experts any knowledge of these?

Where does the Yamaha c5000 stereo amplifier come from?

The latter is obviously not part of the deal if buying used. Yamaha makes ALL their stereo gear in Maylasia at the moment. Even their M5000 and C5000 reference $10,000 amplifier and preamplifier are now manufactured entirely in the far east. Pretty shameful honestly.

How does the Yamaha a-s1100 integrated amplifier work?

Main Direct Input: One of the A-S1100’s analog inputs is labeled Main Direct Input. This input allows you to connect your preamplifier or AV receiver directly to the A-S1100 and use the Yamaha integrated amp as a power amplifier to drive a pair of speakers in your system.

Is the Yamaha a-s1100 worth the money?

I think the AS-2100 is worth it if the cost is marginal, but if not depends how important your cash is! Thanks Dave, the prices are 1099 for the 1100 and £1599 for the 2100.

Why are MOSFETs used in Yamaha a-s1100?

The use of MOSFETs, which have the same polarity on the plus and minus sides, further evolves a complete symmetrical design by eliminating variations due to difference in polarity. The A-S1100 has a full discrete configuration during tone defeat by thoroughly separating the tone control circuit from the signal system.

What do you need to know about the Yamaha integrated amplifier?

Pre-Outs: The Yamaha integrated amplifier is equipped with a stereo preamp output for connecting a powered subwoofer or to use the A-S1100 as a preamplifier and connect it to a larger power amplifier to power your speakers.
