How often should I change the battery on my scantronic sensor guest?
A system installed to EN50131 should create a tamper alarm but I always program for a fault alert which turns the navigation pad red and the keypad beeps. Make sure you change the batteries at least once every 24 months. Thanks for the constructive feedback.
How does the scantronic i-on16 security system work?
My elderly parents have a Scantronic i-on16 security system at their house. When the battery life has ended for one of the radio sensors and needs replacing, the navigation pad glows red and a loud alarm siren sounds until the alarm is switched off.
What to do if your scantronic alarm goes off?
Open up the panel, switch off the power and disconnect the battery. The external bells may go off at this point if they are SAB types. Unplug the 8 pin EEprom chip and re apply mains power. With the panel still powered up, plug the EEprom back into the board.

Can a scantronic ion16 panel be upgraded?
The ion16 isn’t a great panel compared to the rest of the range as it cannot be upgraded; however, a 2016 panel should easily have firmware new enough to have the no keypad alerts option (which may be why you’re missing the battery alerts before they go totally flat), but this would require an engineer to enable it.
When do I need to replace battery on sensor guest?
It doesn’t seem to matter whether the alarm is set (active) or inactive – the alarm still sounds when a sensor needs new batteries. The user guide says there should be a warning alert/bleeps ahead of this but this does not happen.
