The TV is connected to the receiver via the HDMI ARC port. I believe that is connected correctly since the sound does come out of the speaker, just set at a much higher level than normal. Would I be better off using the optic port and cable for the connection from the tv to receiver?

Its next to impossible to find Onkyo speakers instock anywhere. Bought a pair of SKH-410B a couple of weeks ago. Went back to the store to buy another pair and they were gone. I was told that they will no longer be restocked in Australia. Major retailers no longer stock their Receivers here too.

As above the Player (your PC) will be capable of decoding the HD audio ‘on-board’ so sends LPCM to the AVR! If you reset the PC to Bistream the wee HD audio logo will light up on the AVR – the sound will stay the same though and potentially you lose any ‘secondary’ audio you are trying to access on the BD disc.

Can a Blu ray player work with an Onkyo receiver?
