Is center speaker necessary?

A center channel speaker is a critical component of a home theater system set-up as it delivers about 70% of the dialogue from movies and television. Without one, you’re missing out on vital parts of what you’re watching.

Does it matter if left and right speakers?

It’s perfectly fine to swap the left and right speakers if having them that way works better for you. It wouldn’t affect the sound quality; it would only affect the stereo image (the left channel being on the right and vice versa), which you can easily fix by using an RCA cable and switch the left and right plugs.

Can I mix speaker brands?

Yes. Mixing and matching speaker brands and styles is fine. This means the Front speakers should be from the same manufacturer and designed to work together. Surround Left and Right speakers should also be identical to each other, as should the Surround Back speakers.

Can a centre speaker be connected to a subwoofer?

Looking at your Speakers, you don’t have a separate output to the computer for the subwoofer – most 5.1 PC systems are like this and they integrate the Centre with the Subwoofer. Let me know what happens.

What’s the connection between center and subwoofer on a PC?

I’m wanting to create a 5.1 surround sound setup for my PC. The three connections are Front Stereo, Rear Stereo, and Center/Subwoofer. What do I need to do to connect both the center speaker and subwoofer to my pc’s center/subwoofer port? Thanks!

How can I test if my PC speakers are working?

Right, lets test the actual speaker. First unplug all the speakers connected to the subwoofer BUT leave all 3 connections between the PC and the Subwoofer connected. Then plug in the centre speaker into the front-left or front-right phono/RCA port then attempt to play music. Does sound come out of the centre speaker? Yes. The speaker is working.

Where does the center channel of a stereo speaker come from?

Since the stereo speakers are wired together, the center channel comes through the left speaker, and the bass/subwoofer channel comes through the right speaker.

What are some examples of wrong speaker placement?

Center speakers are very directional so projecting the dialogue lower than ear level makes characters sound “boxy” or unintelligible- especially at mid to high frequency sounds. Example of a center speaker placed too low.

Are there any 5.1 surround sound speakers with no sound?

5.1 Surround sound speakers with no sound on the front left or right speakers. I don’t know hardly where to start: I have a dell XPS 400 desktop computer I bought with 5.1 speaker setup, with a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi soundcard from the time I got the computer the sound worked fine.
