No issues with the remote but agree with you on the volume level as my previous Onkyo volume was set a 35 for decent volume but on my 656 it has to be raised to 57 to have the same volume. Strange, but apart from that it is a decent amp. The DTS X firmware update will be available on 31st August.

Is it safe to buy Onkyo tx-nr616 again?

Will not buy Onkyo again and advise others not to do so. Would you believe it. The loaned tx-nr616 has now started to become intermittent on start up for dislaying images to the tv. Looks like the hdmi board is starting to fail on this one now. Spoke to richer sounds and they will give me another loan machine.
