I have used them in the past on cheap cd players with very little results. I tend to take the cd case off and use a lightly moistened cotton bud to gently wipe the cd lens. This should be done gently to reduce the risk of scratching the lens. I think they say they do not recomend them as they may scratch the lens as they are spinning quite fast.
