Can a TEAC x2000r tape deck play?
I recently bought a TEAC X2000R tape deck in almost fresh out of the box condition, however there’s a problem. (Isn’t there always.) I load a tape on it press play and it plays for exactly 3 seconds and quits. It does this in both directions.
Why is my TEAC x-2000r not working properly?
From tape guides, to the rubber idle rollers, to lubrication of the tension rollers, to the state of the rubber of the pinch rollers. From the tape tension to the smoothness of the tape in question. It seems that everything was related to weather the dual capstan principle would function correctly.
Why are there 2 capstans on a TEAC x-2000r?
Another prominent feature that is has, however proved to be a very problematic one. The deck is equipped with 2 capstans. This feature was introduced into the later tape deck models, almost towoards the end of the tapedeck-era, to further improve tape-head contact and wow&flutter.
Why does my TEAC reel to reel not Rewind?
Manually assisting Play or Rewind has no effect. The condition persists even if I manually raise the tension levers and hold them in place; it also persists with tape onboard the machine. It will Fast Forward and Fast Rewind as expected, but touching the Play or Rewind keys with tape onboard causes it the click once, try to turn, and stop.
